Roever Engineering College has formed several committees to provide a training ground for students in all the curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. They provide a conducive environment for faculty members to train the students and carry out research and development activities in all the areas. There are also committees to redress grievances if any, expressed by the faculty and students.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure a ragging-free environment on campus by creating awareness among students about the consequences of ragging.
  • Display anti-ragging policies through notices, banners, and orientation programs at prominent locations in the institution.
  • Conduct surprise checks in hostels, canteens, classrooms, and common areas to prevent any incidents of ragging.
  • Monitor vulnerable areas during the first few weeks of a new academic session, especially for first-year students.
  • Receive complaints related to ragging and conduct prompt and impartial investigations. Take appropriate disciplinary action against those found guilty, as per institutional and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide necessary psychological and emotional support to victims of ragging through counselling services.
  • Encourage students to report incidents without fear, ensuring confidentiality and safety.
  • Coordinate with local police, district administration, and affiliating university in case of serious ragging incidents. Submit periodic reports on anti-ragging measures.
  • Organize orientation sessions, seminars, and workshops on anti-ragging laws and student safety.

Responsibilities of Grievance Redressal Committee:

To redress complaint(s) made by an aggrieved student in respect of the following:

  1. Inform stakeholders (students, faculty, staff) about the grievance redressal process and encourage the use of proper channels for complaint registration.
  2. Accept grievances submitted by students, faculty, or staff through official channels (written form, email, or online portal). Maintain a confidential and secure record of all complaints received.
  3. Ensure impartial investigation without bias or discrimination. Provide resolution through mutual discussion, mediation, or corrective measures as needed.
  4. Resolve issues within the prescribed time frame. Escalate unresolved or serious issues to higher authorities or statutory bodies.
  5. Protect the identity of the complainant and ensure no retaliation or victimization occurs against any party involved in the grievance.
  6. Keep minutes of meetings and resolutions for each case. Submit periodic reports to the Principal as required.

Responsibilities of Internal Complaint Committee

  • Provide fair and transparent ways to resolve complaints through discussion and conciliation, without undermining the rights of the complainant. Aim to resolve issues without focusing only on punishment, which can cause further conflict or resentment.
  • Ensure the complainant’s safety and keep their identity confidential. Offer necessary support such as approved leave, relaxed attendance, or transfer to another department or supervisor if needed while the complaint is being processed. The offender may also be transferred if required.
  • Make sure that victims or witnesses are not treated unfairly or discriminated against for raising a complaint. Protect them from any retaliation or negative consequences for participating in the complaint process.
  • Help the employee or student if they wish to file a complaint with the police.

ESTABLISHMENT OF SC/ST COMMITTEE

An Exclusive committee for SC/ST Students has been established as per the guidelines of AICTE Approval Regulations. Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) have been identified as the two most backward groups of Indian Society. They include all the castes, races or tribes, which have been socially, economically and educationally backward. The cell has been established to support and to bring students from such communities to build their academic, self and social wealth. The SC/ST committee of the college was established with the purpose to empower the SC/ST students in the college.

OBJECTIVES:

  • To ensure necessities of an environment where all such students feel safe and secure inside the campus. 
  • To communicate with the students and motivate them for better future
  • To encourage the students for their curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and make relief them from inferiority.
  • To circulate the various scholarships provided by State Government, Central Government, UGC and various Government and Non-Government.
  • To conduct / co-ordinate training programmes for students in life skills and personality development to help in there.
  • To create awareness about various State government and Central Government job opportunities, reservation facility available in these jobs and exam preparation
  • To review the follow up measures taken to achieve the objectives and targets laid down by the Government of India and the UGC.

ROLE OF THE COMMITTEE:

The Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) committee in a college is tasked with addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by students belonging to SC and ST communities. Its role involves promoting social inclusion, equality and empowerment among these students. The committee works to ensure fair representation, access to opportunities and support services for SC/ST students within the college community.

FUNCTIONS OF THE SC/ ST COMMITTEE:

  • To look into the complaints and the grievances of SC-ST employees and students.
  • To resolve any problems based by the SC/ST employees and students.
  • To implement the reservation polices of admissions to this students in various courses of studies, accommodation in the hostels, transports, etc.
  • To provide advice and communication in respect of scholarship.
  • Any other matters of relevance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide academic, emotional, and career-related guidance to SC/ST students. Address grievances related to discrimination or unfair treatment in a timely and sensitive manner.
  • Organize seminars, workshops, and awareness programs to educate students and staff. Promote inclusive practices and discourage any form of caste-based discrimination.
  • Ensure that reservation policies in admissions, scholarships, and placements are implemented as per government regulations.
  • Assist SC/ST students in availing scholarships, fellowships, and other financial support provided by central/state governments and funding agencies. Create awareness about available schemes and guide students in the application process.
  • Encourage participation of SC/ST students in skill development programs, entrepreneurship initiatives, and leadership training.
  • Maintain records of activities conducted and students supported. Submit periodic reports to the Principal/Management and respond to any statutory audit or compliance requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The Minority Cell assists students and faculty belonging to minority religions, such as Christianity, Islam, Jainism, and others, in meeting their spiritual needs and supporting their academic development.
  • Provide access to scholarships, financial aid, and other resources.
  • Facilitate the observance of religious practices and festivals.
  • Offer guidance on academic and personal issues to ensure their well-being and success.
  • Organize cultural events and activities to celebrate diversity and encourage interaction.
  • Act as a liaison between minority communities and college administration.

OBC CELL:

It is a Special cell for the welfare of other backward classes (OBC) including Minorities.

The OBC Cell in the college was established in the academic year 2020 with the purpose of empowering the OBC communities in the region. The college takes special interest in facilitating financial support to the students from these communities from government agencies and other sources. The cell is always engaged to solve the various problems of OBC students. The cell also encouraged the students to enrol for career orientation programmes which would empower and equip them with the necessary skills to choose a career option.
