Department of Information Technology was started in 2001, offering B.Tech.(IT) programme under the affiliation of Anna University, Chennai with excellent laboratory and research facilities. The program design is such that the graduates develop a practical understanding of the technology.

The five pillars that make the IT curriculum are programming, networking, web systems, information management and human computer interaction.

  • The department is organizing symposium in the every year and National level conference in every alternate years.
  • Special Coaching for Aptitude Skills, Communication, GATE is offered for the department students.
  • Most of the Students in the Department are placed in leading MNCs in and around World.
  • Faculty Advisory System is functioning in the Department to take individual care of the students.
  • Special Courses and monitoring is done in the department for both Slow and fast Learners through summer term and Honors Courses.
  • Students are encouraged to attend Industrial Visits and In plant Training to update their Industrial Knowledge.
  • Faculty members are encouraged to attend various Faculty Development Programmes, Conferences and Workshops to enrich their knowledge.
  • PTA of the department is well functioning for filling the gap between parents and teachers.

As an Information Technology Engineer, they should involve in the following areas

As the Computing increases, increase in use of automation, the need for qualified well trained Information Technology Engineers is also growing. Even though there is a mindset in the public that the IT filed is going down, an Information Technology Engineer is a must for any industry now to maintain the automation control and Database maintenance.

There are many Public Sector and Private Sector Industries who recruit the Information Technology Engineers.

Programme Educational Objectives

  • To provide students with a strong foundation in the mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate, solve and analyze engineering problems and to prepare them for graduate studies, R&D, consultancy and higher learning.
  • To develop an ability to analyze the requirements of the software, understand the technical specifications, design and provide novel engineering solutions and efficient product designs.
  • To provide exposure to emerging cutting edge technologies, adequate training & opportunities to work as teams on multidisciplinary projects with effective communication skills and leadership qualities.
  • To prepare the students for a successful career and work with values & social concern bridging the digital divide and meeting the requirements of Indian and multinational companies.

  8. Graduates will possess fundamental knowledge on the design of digital, analog systems and communications.
  9. Graduates will be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
  10. Graduates will possess leadership & management skills with best professional ethical practices and social concern.
