Department of Computer Science Engineering

Introduction

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is established in the year 2001 with 40 students at the entry level. The intake is increased from 40 to 60 in 2005 and to 90 in the year 2007. The Department started the Master program (M.E -Computer Science and Engineering) in 2009 and is also recognized as a research centre by Anna University. The department is equipped with the state of the art equipments and also includes well developed computer laboratories enabled with high speed internet facilities for Staff and Student utilization.

This department has a set of dedicated, talented, well qualified and experienced team as teaching faculty. All the faculty members are postgraduates with considerable research and academic experience. The department also has qualified and dedicated supporting staff for our laboratories.

Objectives

  • To achieve 90% result in every semester.
  • To mould our students to get placed at least 70% in top level MNC's
  • To motivate our students to adapt themselves with changing technology and Globalization
  • To educate our students to apply their engineering knowledge and skills to succeed in computer engineering domain, by following professional ethics
  • To develop our department into a well established research center

Vission

To create the most conducive environment for quality academic and research oriented undergraduate and postgraduate education in computer science and engineering and prepare the students for a globalised technological society and orient them towards serving the society.

Mission

  • To impart high quality professional training at the postgraduate and undergraduate level with an emphasis on basic principles of computer science and engineering.
  • To establish nationally and internationally recognized research centres and expose the students to broad research experience.
  • To impart moral and ethical values, and interpersonal skills to the students.
  • To empower the students with the required skills to solve the complex technological problems of modern society and also provide them with a framework for promoting collaborative and multidisciplinary activities.

Programme Educational Objectives

Roever Engineering College, Computer Science and Engineering program will prepare its graduates to

  1. Work productively as successful Computer professionals in diverse career paths including supportive and leadership roles on multidisciplinary teams or be active in higher studies,
  2. Communicate effectively, recognize and incorporate societal needs and constraints in their professional endeavors, and practice their profession with high regard to ethical responsibilities,
  3. Engage in life-long learning and to remain current in their profession to foster personal and organizational growth.

Programme Outcomes

Programme Outcomes describe what students are expected to know or be able to do by the time of graduation from the programme. On Completion of Computer Science and Engineering programme, the graduates will be able to

  • apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering principles
  • design and construct a hardware and software system, component, or process to meet the desired needs, within the realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, and sustainability
  • design and conduct experiments, as well as to organize, and analyze computer science and related problems
  • identify, formulate, and solve hardware and software problems using computer engineering principles, interpret and make inferences from the resulting data
  • function as effective member in a multidisciplinary and diverse teams
  • solve professional, legal and ethical issues and responsibilities pertaining to computer engineering
  • communicate effectively and present technical information in oral and  written format
  • utilize the computing knowledge in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context
  • sort out contemporary issues in the field of computer science and engineering
  • use the techniques, skills, and modern hardware and software tools necessary for computer engineering practice
  • recognize the need for an ability to engage in lifelong learning
